Frequently Asked Questions

What sets Azure Cabinets apart from other cabinet makers?
We are a relatively small shop which means that we are able to give you personal attention. You are not a number to us. We also make everything custom to meet your particular needs. Rather than using standard cabinets that come in incremental sizes, each cabinet is specially made to size to perfectly fit into the space.

Because we have implemented lean manufacturing principles we have eliminated much of the waste in the shop and stream-lined our procedures, which allows us to offer you the best cabinets at a reasonable cost. We also know the value of working with your contractor, as well as other trades, and the importance of meeting deadlines.

How can you help us meet our budget?
We offer pricing at several different price points. We use a variety of materials, door styles, trim packages, and finishes. Each kitchen is unique. We can help you select the appropriate combination to obtain the overall look within your budget.

What is the quality of the hardware?
Our standard hardware comes from Blum and Hafele. Both are leading manufactures of quality cabinet hardware for drawer glides and hinges. Depending on the price point of your cabinets, there are several options. For our premium maple dovetail drawers we use the Blum Tandem plus Blumotion drawer glides. These are undermount, concealed full-extension glides that are pneumatically self-closing. A more cost effective option is our metal drawers such as Blum Metabox.

There are two options for hinges as well. For our premium cabinets we typically use Blum Clip-Top allowing for a 120 degree door swing. For standard cabinets we use Hafele A-Series for a 110 degree opening.

What is European style cabinetry?
We build framed and frameless cabinets, both in traditional and contemporary styles. What makes our cabinets European is that they are built in metric using European machinery. Our saws, line boring machine, edgebander and hinge boring machine are all European made and use metric spacing and tooling. Our hardware (see above) is also made in metric. We build cabinets to any width and depth and in height increments of 32mm (1-1/4”). All cabinets are designed to fit your needs and space requirements. By using metrics, it eliminates fractions and simplifies production in the shop.

How many door styles are available?
We have over 100 door/drawer styles available. There are also 14 different wood species and multiple veneers to select from, making the selection virtually unlimited. We will work with you to help determine what works best.

What types of finishes are available?
Let your imagination be the limit. We offer simple wiping stains, glazing over wiping stains, glazing over solid colors, distressing, and solid colors. Whether you want a natural wood look, a more old-world French provincial style, or a clean contemporary feel you can find a finish to meet your needs. Your choices are unlimited.

Are there options available to help reduce the overall cost?
Most definitely. Without sacrificing quality and overall appearance, many items can be substituted to reduce the total cost of a project. For example, instead of using premium hardwood dovetail drawers, we can use either a plywood drawer box or a metal drawer system. And, we can substitute our standard maple plywood cabinet boxes with maple melamine. Other items that can be substituted are hardware and cabinet interiors. In addition, we can help guide you to more cost effective door/drawer styles and finishes. We will work closely with you to meet your needs.

What options are available if we want to customize the look of the cabinets?
Whether you want to go contemporary, traditional or somewhere in between, special features can be added to customize your look. For example, in a traditional design we can add decorative columns, moldings, valances, decorative brackets, and bun feet. In a contemporary kitchen we can use metal feet, different height toe kicks, aluminum doors with glass, and swing up doors.  Other options include glass doors, hood covers, multiple finishes, etc.

What options are available if we want to customize the interiors of our cabinets?
For our cabinet interiors we typically use Rev-A-Shelf or Hafele and have found most options are covered by these two manufacturers. Cabinet interior options include rolling shelves in base cabinets, pull-out trash cans, lazy susan corner units, pantry pullouts, spice racks, etc. There are also many options for drawer interiors.

What type of warranty does Azure Cabinets offer?
We provide a one-year warranty on our products including overall construction, hardware and finish. The finish warranty is against peeling, blistering and cracking.
